Question by Querious: Collecting Gold Coins: what's the value of the following?
Mint condition, uncirculated Swiss gold 20 Franc, French Gold 20 Franc, German Gold 10 marks, British Gold Sovereign and a Russian Gold 5 Ruble. All were supposedly made pre-WWI.

The total amount of gold is just under an ounce. I know that gold is worth 0/oz + . . . . .

In order to answer your question I would also need to know the years of the coins. With the years the coins could be looked up at www.numismaster.com

For the moment, all I can really do is give you these links for current gold spot prices:

http://www.coincommunity.com/spot_prices/

http://www.nwtmintbullion.com/

http://www.apmex.com/

http://www.kitco.com/market/

I'll try to keep an eye out for when you add details to this question but I could easily overlook it. If you want me to come back and give you more information. Send me an email and I'll for sure come back to look.

Question by barrieboy58: What is the value of a 1915 full gold sovereign coin?
It ways 1/4 ounce. Is in good condition.

Best answer:

Answer by liberty 911
The 1915 gold sovereign was made at four different mints. The mint mark is located just above the year. Of course, the condition affects the value, but the gold content is currently worth just over 0 while the coin would sell for somewhat more than that. I hope that helps.

Question by Maggie Lam: Does anybody know the value of the 1913 Georgivs V.D.G Britt Full Sovereign Gold Coin?
According to my dad, it's 24k gold. I've been trying to look all over the net for the value of it and I came across various websites and many different prices. Some say it's in the hundreds and some say it's in the thousands. Please help!

Best answer:

Answer by Neville
I don't know what you could actually sell it for, but current buying prices are between £200 - £300 depending on condition. Check out Ebay and the websites of London coin dealers. The value tends to vary according to the current value of gold - which is quite high at the moment.

Question by Slate: Are mexican 2 pesos gold coin a decent investment value?
I've never bought gold or silver before and I'm thinking starting to buy a few coins here and there to start a very small reserve. The cheapest common gold coins I've found online are Mexican 2 pesos for about per coin with shipping. I've read that foreign currency coins such as British Sovereigns, French 20 Francs, South African Krugerrands, Austrian 100 Coronas, Mexican 50 Pesos are good values because they cost less per ounce then traditional American Ealges, so you get more gold for your money.

Does the same principle apply for Mexican 2 pesos? Any of the others I mentioned cost 0 or more per coin, and while I may eventually start buying that much, for now all I'm really looking to do is spend an occasional -0, and gather a few coins over time.

I've got some other ideas for silver, but as far as gold goes would Mexican 2 pesos be a good way to go?

Best answer:

Answer by MrSilverAG
Seems fine to me, it's good to buy in regular increments so you are automatically dollar-cost averaging your way into the market, which lowers your risk of trying to time the market for a large purchase.

Mexican 2 pesos gold coins are 90% gold, AGW .0482 oz and don't carry a stiff premium so I say go for it.

Question by hariharan_hn: Gold coin of 1912 issued by British rulers. whats its value today?
I have a gold coin weighing 8gm issued in those days as pay to indians during the british rule . (given to my grand father) . The coin has the empress head on one side with the year printed therein.

Best answer:

Answer by TJ
The coin you are describing sounds - by size and weight - to be what was called a sovereign.

http://www.thegoldcoinstore.com/WorldGold/British_Gold_Sovereign_Canada_Mint.php

These were minted throughout the old Empire.

But 1912 sovereigns had the bust of George V, and not an "empress" (presumably Victoria?)

If it is a sovereign, it's current retail value would be approximately 90-100 British pounds, depending on condition:

If it is something else, it might have more value as a collector's item.
