i have a 22k british gold sovereign from 1909, with a loop on the top which im pretty sure was used for a string for a necklace at some point, the coin is in excellent condition and almost no scratches on it, how much would it be worth??

Being what is known in the field of numismatics as 'ex-jewelry', the coin is not in excellent condition, may not be gradable by one of the leading grading companies, and will have very limited appeal to collectors. This pretty much reduces it to a coin that gold bullion investors will buy. It's a smaller coin, so the percentage of premium over spot market price will be higher than it would on a one ounce bullion coin, but as ex-jewelry, the premium will be small or there might be none at all You're looking at somewhere in the 5 - 0 range.

Gold coins have a bullion value based on weight and a collectors value. If you sell to a collector you get more but the value is dependent on condition - is it like new or warn flat as a blank. The gold value is now high by the way. Try searching on ebay - you might find quite a few there, but for a real valuation go to a coin shop.

depending on the weight of the coin
1/10 oz is 80 bucks
1/4 oz is about 250
1/2 450
1 oz around 800-900
depending on the price of gold at the time

Mint condition, uncirculated Swiss gold 20 Franc, French Gold 20 Franc, German Gold 10 marks, British Gold Sovereign and a Russian Gold 5 Ruble. All were supposedly made pre-WWI.

In order to answer your question I would also need to know the years of the coins. With the years the coins could be looked up at www.numismaster.com

probably half bucket filled with 1 gold piece. That's assuming there's no empty air pockets. think of it as filling a jar with marbles (you'll get air pockets). Or filling it with water ( no air pockets, therefore more volume!)

The British coin is dated 1894 Victoria. The mohurs have Arabic or Urdu writing and each weigh about 11 grams and have different diameters and are not perfect circles.
