the sizes of the 1887 gold coins are approx 21.7 mm and 7.98 grams for the Sovereign, 29.5mm and 15.97 grams for the 2 pound coin, and 36mm and 39.94 grams for the 5 pound coin.
Interestingly the Proofs for the 2 & 5 pound coins were minted in Sydney Australia and have a small "s" on the ground underneath the horses hoof. but beware of contemporary forgeries.
